Biography
French film critic who later made documentaries for French TV. He began making short subjects in the early '50s and completed his first feature, "The Sign of Leo" in 1959. Other films include "Clair's Knee" and "A Good Marriage." Rohmer's French TV series "Six Moral Tales" began in 1962. Rohmer died in Paris on January 11, 2010.

Paddy de Jabrun quotes birth record in January 2010. Original record gave as source "Luc de Marre quotes B.C" for the data: November 11, 1920 at 10:00 AM in Nancy, France. However, after Rohmer's death in January 2010 Paddy de Jabrun wrote that Rohmer was born on March 21, 1920 at 3:00 AM in Tulle, quoting birth certificate for Maurice Henri Joseph Scherer born in Tulle, France (also given in Rohmer's obituaries). Upon investigation, PT located in the Steinbrecher files a certified document from the city of Nancy with the same birth information that De Marre quoted; the document gives a birth name of Jean Marie Maurice Scherer and also said this person married Gisele Marie Eugenie Suzanne Nantz on December 30 1942 in Saint Nicolas de Port; the document goes on to say that the couple were divorced in 1946 and he married the same year Paule Marie Josephine Okinczyc. However, as de Jabrun pointed out, Rohmer married Thérèse Barbet on 22 August 1957. PT believes that de Marre and Steinbrecher located birth information for another person with a similar name born in Nancy.
