French politician, nicknamed 'l'île le renard argenté' (Island of the Silver Fox), and a medical doctor by profession.
From 1984 to 1998 he was president of the Assembly of Corsica. He was also mayor of Porto-Vecchio for 47 years, from 1950 to 1997.
He died on 6 April 1998 in Paris.
