French historian whose specialty was the French Third Republic. She was also a historian of the Labour movement.
From 1981 to 1988, she was Vice-president of the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. From 1991 to 1995 she was President of the Ligue des droits de l'homme and had been a signatory to the Manifesto of the 121. She was an officer of the Légion d'honneur.
She died on 7 February 2005 in Paris.
