Dutch physician who established a children's hospital in Amsterdam in 1865. Seven years later, the hospital moved to new premises in Sarphatistraat. The name Emma Children's Hospital dates back to 1899, when Emma the Queen Mother became the hospital's patron.
Samuel de Ranitz married three times and had six children. He died in The Hague on 18 January 1913 at age 78.
