American quintuplets, all girls, born to First Lieutenant Charles G. Hannan, age 29, and Mrs. Cecilia Hannan, age 27.

First quint born 10:22 PM. Second quint; 10:24 PM. Third quint; 10:29 PM. Fourth quint; 10:31 PM. Fifth quint; 10:34 PM. The fourth baby was the strongest and lived 18 hours 9 minutes. Quints are estimated to occur once in 57,000,000 births and rarely all survive.

They were named Deborah Lynn, Janet Lee, Karen Denise, Melissa Jane, and Suzanne Kay. They died within 18 hours. By order of birth, Baby B died at 5:40pm CST, Baby A died at 6:10pm, Baby E died at 9:25pm, and Baby C died at 10pm on 20 october 1959, and Baby D died at 6:40am on 21 October 1959.

Sy Scholfield quotes news reports, "The babies, the 47th recorded quintuplets were born three months prematurely Tuesday within 12 minutes starting at 10:22 a.m. p.s.t. By 8 p.m. [p.s.t.] four were dead" ("Last of Tiny Hannan Quints dies," The Bend Bulletin [Oregon], 21 Oct. 1959, p.1); "San Antonio (Texas), Oct. 21 ...
