Biography
Italian artist, AKA Gilbert Proesch, who works together with his life partner George Passmore (born 8 January 1942 in Plymouth, United Kingdom) as a collaborative duo called Gilbert & George. They are known for their distinctive and highly formal appearance and manner and also for their brightly coloured graphic-style photo-based artworks.
The two first met on 25 September 1967 while studying sculpture at Saint Martin's School of Art. They have claimed that they married in 2008. For many years, Gilbert & George have been residents of Fournier Street, Spitalfields, East London.
