German engraver, most notable for his work in Denmark. He was a son of the painter Johannes Daniel Preissler (1666–1737) and Anna Felicitas (née Riedner), making him the younger brother of the painter Johann Justin Preisler and the painter and engraver Georg Martin Preisler. He died on 17 November 1794, Copenhagen.

Sy Scholfield quotes father's record in "Archiv für die zeichnenden Künste mit besonderer Beziehung auf Kupferstecher- und Holzschneidekunst und ihre Geschichte, Volumes 7-9" (Rudolph Weigel, 1862), p. 372: "1715 d 14 Martz Johann Martin am Tag Zacharia im Zeichen des Krebs eine viertel Stunde nach drei Uhr der grössern gebohren."
Translation: 1715, 14 March, Johann Martin, born on the day of Zacharia in the sign of Cancer fifteen minutes after three o'clock.
