Biography

Italian ecclesiastic and Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, elected 2/06/1922. Nicknamed "the scientific pope" he was active and bossy with great vitality and optimism. At his death on 2/10/1939, Rome, it was suspected that his doctor gave him a lethal dose of poison to relieve his suffering.

Pius XI is responsible for the creation of the Vatican state on February 11, 1929 when he signed the Lateran Treaty with the Fascist government.

Bachem, 1922), p. 67: "Nach dem Taufbuch von Desio wurde Ambrogio Damiano Achille Ratti, als Sohn der rechtmäßig in Saronno 1850 getrauten Eheleute Francesco Ratti und Teresa Galli, katholisch, Grundbesitzer, am 31. Mai 1857, um 8 Uhr vormittags, geboren und am 1. Juni getauft. Paten waren Ambrogio Ratti aus Rogeno und Luigia Zappa."

Translation: According to the baptismal register of Desio, Ambrogio Damiano Achille Ratti, son of the legitimate marriage in Saronno in 1850 of spouses Francesco Ratti and Teresa Galli, Catholic, landowners, was born on 31 May 1857 at 8 o'clock in the morning; baptized on June 1st. The godparents were Ambrogio Ratti from Rogeno and Luigia Zappa.
