Dirk Frans Pont

Dutch national socialist politician, who served as Mayor of Uithoorn (1925-1928), Mayor of Hillegom (1928-1937) and Mayor of Apeldoorn (1942-1945).

After the war, he was arrested and sentenced to imprisonment for three and a half years. His detention ended on 17 April 1948. He was not allowed to vote again nor to hold public office. He lost his Dutch citizenship, but this was restored in 1953.

Pont suffered heart problems and died in Hilversum on 14 February 1963.

Sy Scholfield cites birth record (dated 5 April 1893) quoted in "Moed en overmoed: een biografie van burgemeester Dirk Frans Pont" by Thea de Roos-van Rooden (Verloren, 2010), p. 13: "Dirk Frans Pont, roepnaam Frans, werd op 4 april 1893 om half zes in de ochtend geboren."

Translation: 'Dirk Frans Pont, also known as Frans, was born on 4 April 1893 at half past five in the morning.'
