Italian botanist, who was professor and director of the botanical institute and the cryptogamic laboratory at Pavia University, and Head of the faculty of mathematical physical and natural sciences at the same university from 1937 to 1942. He joined the Italian Fascist movement in 1919, becoming an ardent supporter of the Fascist regime. He died in Loano, Savona, on 21 October 1963, aged 91.
