Biography
French journalist, the editorial director at Le Monde newspaper. He was allegedly involved in wire-tapping activities of the Élysée (The Élysée in France is like the White House in the U.S.). Plenel resigned from Le Monde in November 2004, and is currently the editor-in-chief of Mediapart, an Internet-based subscription journal which he founded in 2008. In December 2012, his journal accused the minister of budget, Jérôme Cahuzac, of tax fraud, by holding a secret off-shore bank account.
