Italian doctor and biologist who specialized in histology and forensic pathological anatomy. He worked at the Institute for Pathological Anatomy at the University of Naples. He is the author of the 1896 work, “Beitrag zur Histologie und Aetiologie des Carcinoms” (Contribution to histology and etiology of carcinoma). He was a nephew of Antonio Cardarelli. He died in Naples on 22 March 1933, aged 72. He is the subject of the biography, Giuseppe Pianese (1861-1933). L'uomo e lo scienziato (edited by Nicola Caldarone).
