American media personality, actor, and singer, known for hosting talk and game shows since the 1960s. After years of popularity on TV talk show, Live with Regis and Kathie Lee (1988–2000) he hit superstardom with his hit TV game show, Who Wants to be a Millionaire? (1999–2002, 2004, 2009).

Having been called "the hardest working man in show business", Philbin holds the Guinness World Record for the most hours on U.S. television. His trademarks included his excited manner, his New York accent, his wit, and his irreverent ad-libs.

He began his career as a news anchor in San Diego from 1960 to 1964, and as host of the Regis Philbin Show in 1961 (syndicated 1964-1965).

Philbin had an angioplasty in 1993. On 14 March 2007 he underwent cardiac triple bypass surgery. Hip replacement surgery followed on 1 December 2009.

On 18 January 2011 he announced his upcoming retirement from his popular television show, Live with Regis and Kelly. After more than 25 years of co-hosting, his last show aired on 18 November 2011.

Philbin was married twice and had four children. He was married to Catherine "Kay" Faylen, daughter of actor Frank Faylen, from 1956 to 1968, and they had a daughter, Amy, and a son, Daniel. He married interior decorator Joy Senese in 1970 and they had Joanna and Jennifer "J.J.".

On 24 July 2020, Philbin died of heart disease at the age of 88.
