Biography

Israeli-American violinist, conductor, and pedagogue. A child prodigy. Over course of his career, Perlman has performed worldwide, and throughout the United States in venues that have included a State Dinner at the White House honoring Queen Elizabeth, and a Presidential Inauguration, and has conducted the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Westchester Philharmonic.

Perlman has won 15 GRAMMYs.

In 2015, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

On 14 December 2015 it was announced taht he will be the 2016 Genesis Prize Laureate. The $1 million prize, launched in 2014 was dubbed by Time magazine as “the Jewish Nobel”. The ceremony will be in Jerusalem on 23 June 2016
