Source Notes
Sy Scholfield provided birth registry entry from Hesse Archives.
Previously Scholfield cited same data from birth certificate quoted in "Gedichte" by Alfons Paquet (Deutsche Verlags-Anst., 1970), p. 5: "zu Wiesbaden, in seiner Wohnung am sechsundzwanzigsten Januar des Jahres tausend achthundert achtzig und eins, nachts um elf Uhr ein Kind männlichen Geschlechts geboren worden sei, welches den Vornamen Alphons Hermann erhalten habe." [Abridged translation: in his apartment at Wiesbaden on the twenty-sixth of January, eighteen eighty-one, at eleven o'clock at night, a child of the male sex was born, and named Alphons Hermann.]
