Biography

American writer, a novelist and sci-fi critic, who won both Nebula and Hugo awards. His works include Rite of Passage (1968), Earth Magic (1978), Masters of Space and Time (1980) and The World Beyond the Hill (1990).

Panshin earned his B.A. and M.A., publishing his first short story in the 1960s, "Down to the Worlds of Men." He did a series of "space operas" and swashbuckling spoofs.

Married on 4 June 1969, he had one son. Alexei Panshin died on 21 August 2022 at age 82.
