French zoologist, who studied various subjects in marine biology: crab parasites, torpedo anatomy, embryogenesis, pagures, etc. He was also interested in entomology and supervised an edition of the Histoire des fourmis (History of Ants) by René-Antoine Ferchault de Réaumur (1683-1757).

He died on 22 September 1952 in Paris, aged 79.
