Biography
Spanish geologist, scientist and entrepreneur. Brother of the historian and art critic Ricardo de Orueta. He began his career at Malaga Heredia Ferrería the year after finishing his engineering studies, the decline of the steel industry Malaga requires him to find work in the mines of Leon, in 1887 enters the body of Mining Engineers where he became teacher in the school of foremen Mieres until he moved to Madrid in 1913. Case forging factory in El Llano de Gijon provides sufficient economic independence to be able to devote to research and development of microscopic for mineral identification techniques; with their studies, he is covierte a pioneer of the application of scientific method to geology. He also pioneered the use of color photography to illustrate their publications.
He died in Madrid on 16 January 1926.
