Biography
Costa Rican political, coffee entrepreneur, lawyer, notary, diplomat and writer. He studied law at the University of Costa Rica and Letters at the University of Montreal, Canada. He practiced law not to pursue a roaster. He chaired the Chamber of Industry and was a founder of the Costa Rican Coffee Company (CAFESA) of which he was CEO. he was a member of the Foundation Board of the Second Republic after the Revolution of 48 where he was awarded the rank of Major and military adviser. Then he was appointed embassy added Costa Rica in Washington DC and representative to the Inter-American Defense Board trading. He was a deputy in the period from 1962 to 1966 and then in 1966 under the administration Trejos Fernandez was Costa Rican ambassador to the United States, Canada and the Organization of American States. Ortuño was candidate in the primaries of the National Unification Party in 1973 ahead of elections next year, but was defeated. He was appointed CEO of the Costa Rican Oil Refinery (RECOPE) in the period from 1978 to 1982 under the administration Carazo Odio.
He died on 14 May 2004.
