Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez


American politician, activist, and community organizer. A member of the Democratic Party, she has been the U.S. Representative for New York's 14th congressional district since 3 January 2019.

The International Astronomical Union named the asteroid 23238 Ocasio-Cortez after Ocasio-Cortez when she was a senior in high school in recognition of her second-place finish in the 2007 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.
