Guatemalan explosive volcanic event of the Volcán de Fuego (Spanish for Volcano of Fire). The eruption included lahars, pyroclastic flows, and clouds of volcanic ash, with 99 people confirmed to have been killed.
The population around the volcano is estimated to be 54,000 within 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) and over 1 million within 30 kilometres (19 mi).
Previous eruptions of the same volcano occurred on 8 February 2015 and 31 January 2018.
