Source Notes
Sy Scholfield found an article quoting him: "This is how it all started. On April 1 1967 it was a lovely afternoon. At 2pm my mother had just received needle and cotton from Uncle Michael, her brother, to hem her nightdress which was far too long. He also brought her mutton curry and rice. The gown was not stitched. The curry was not touched. I was born at 2.20pm in McCords Hospital, Overport, outside Durban. 'You were wonderful, there was no pain, nothing, it was all very quick and pleasant,' says my indulgent mother" ("Turning forty" by Edwin Naidu, Sunday Independent, 1 April 2007).
