Adolph von Menzel

German artist noted for drawings, etchings, and paintings. Along with Caspar David Friedrich, he is considered one of the two most prominent German artists of the 19th century, and was the most successful artist of his era in Germany. He died on 9 February 1905 in Berlin.

Dezember 1815 ist in dem genannten Taufbuch eingetragen : „Vater: Carl Erdmann Menzel, Schul-Instituts-Direktor, Mutter: Charlotte Emilie geb. Okrusch, Kind: Adolph Friedrich Erdmann, geb. d. 8. Dezember Ab. 8 Uhr. Testes : 1. Friedrich Wilhelm Martini, Wirtschafts-Inspector, 2. Johann Gottlieb Okrusch, Lehrer am Elisab. Gymnasium, 3. Joh. Eleonore Emilie Okrusch, geb. Schmid."

Translation: On 26 December 1815 was entered in the said parish register: "Father: Carl Erdmann Menzel, School Institute Director, Mother: Charlotte Emilie nee Okrusch, child: Adolph Friedrich Erdmann, born 8 December at 8 o'clock [Ab/ends] evening. Testifiers: 1. Friedrich Wilhelm Martini, economic Inspector; 2. Johann Gottlieb Okrusch, teacher at Elisab. High School; 3. John. Eleonore Okrusch Emilie, nee Schmid.
