Biography
Dutch composer and conductor who was the father of composer and pianist Misha Mengelberg. He worked in Berlin, Barcelona, Kiev and Amsterdam. His most notable work is 'Catalunya Renaixent', written for the Banda Municipal of Barcelona in 1934. This score uses 3 xirimias, traditional Catalonian shawms.
He died on 11 July 1984 in Amsterdam.
