Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad

French track and field athlete who mainly competes in the 3000 metres steeplechase. He is of Algerian origin. He has won two olympic silver medals in 2008 and 2012.

He won the 3000m steeplechase at the 2014 European championship but was downgraded for removing his jersey before the finish. Then he won the 1500m.

Owner of the European record (steeplechase) since July 2013. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, he won the bronze after Ezekiel Kemboi's disqualification.
