Biography
American astronaut, pilot of Gemini 4 when Edward White performed a two-minute space walk on 3 June 1965. On Apollo 9, on 3 March 1969, with Walter Scott and Richard Schwickart, he performed the first docking with the Lunar Module within Earth's atmosphere.
McDivitt married twice and had four children and two stepchildren. He died in his sleep on 13 October 2022 in Tucson, Arizona at age 93.
