Biography

American socialite, oil heiress, and centenarian who was the widow of U.S. Naval Admiral John S. McCain Jr. and mother of politician John S. McCain III and stage actor and journalist Joe McCain. She was active in the Navy Wives Clubs and her Capitol Hill home was a popular salon for lawmakers and politicians. From 2007 to 2008, McCain actively campaigned during her son's presidential bid.

Her son John died on 25 August 2018 at age 81. In November 2019, McCain's daughter Jean McCain Morgan died of mesothelioma, aged 85. Roberta McCain died on 12 October 2020 at the age of 108.
