Simonne Mathieu (1926)


French tennis player who won several championships in singles and doubles including the French Open several times and several Grand Slams. At the height of her career in the mid-1930s, she was the third ranked singles player in the world.

She died January 7, 1980. She was posthumously inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame in 2006.
