Biography
Austrian archduchess by birth and Queen of Naples and Sicily as the wife of King Ferdinand IV & III. She was the thirteenth child of Empress Maria Theresa and Emperor Francis I, and she married Ferdinand as part of an Austrian alliance with Spain, where Ferdinand's father was King. Ferdinand and Maria Carolina had 18 children. Maria Carolina died on 8 September 1814 as a consequence of a stroke, aged 62, at Hetzendorf Palace, Vienna.
