Prominent Costa Rican poet.

From 1938-1967 and from 1974-1979 he served as Director of the National Library and was a member of the Costa Rican Academy of Language. He published poems in isolation, it was not until 1941 when they were compiled into one book called Wings in Flight. The book was reissued in 1965 and were added some new poems. In 1963 he was awarded the Magon Award, the highest award given by the Government of Costa Rica in recognition of the cultural work of one person.

He died on 5 May 1985.
