Biography
Indian author who published her first novel The Reluctant Detective in 2011. Her first non-fiction work, Karmic Kids (2015), is an introduction to parenting based on her own experience of raising a son. Manral is the founder of India Helps, a network of volunteers who assist disaster victims.
Previously she worked as an advertising copywriter, and a feature writer for The Times of India and Cosmopolitan India. In 2000, she became a freelance journalist and, from 2005, a blogger creating "Thirtysixandcounting" and "Karmickids". At their height, both were considered to be among the most popular blogs in India, before she closed them down in order to devote more time to motherhood.
Source Notes
Sy Scholfield quotes Manral on Twitter: "Capricorn ascendant here" [1], "Hell at 46 I want to tear into folks having fun at my expense" (posted Oct 2017) [2], "So like another June 22 born, eh. *wink wink*" [3], "btw our fellow June 22 birthday sharer has been in the news for all the right reasons" [4], "And please don't tell me Mumbai was made up of islands to begin with. I was born here. I've lived here for almost five decades" [5].
Scholfield notes that later, in July 2021, Manral tweeted, "So the mater now thinks I was born fifteen minutes later than she had thought my exact birth time was and this completely changes my ascendant and don't ask me why I have trust issues" [6]. Therefore we understand she was born within fifteen minutes after Aquarius started rising, thus between 9:15 and 9:30 PM.
