Count of Chinchón Luis of Spain


Infante of Spain, Cardinal Deacon of the titular church of Santa Maria della Scala in Rome, Archbishop of Toledo and Primate of Spain and 13th Conde de Chinchón, Grandee of Spain First Class, known as the Cardinal-Infante. He was the youngest son of Philip V, King of Spain and his second wife, Elisabeth Farnese.

In January 1776 Luis contracted a Morganatic marriage with an Aragonese aristocrat, María Teresa de Vallabriga y Rozas. The couple had four children.

Luis is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the youngest-ever cardinal. He died on 7 August 1785.

Am vergangenen Freytag/den 25sten dieses/ als am St. Jacobs-Tag / des Patronen von Spanien / wurde die Königin Morgens um 6. Uhr/ mit einem Printzen glüklich entbunden / welcher gleich darauf getauffet/ und Ludwig Anton Jacob genennet worden." (Madrid, July 29. On last Friday / the 25th of this month / St. Jacobs Day / the Royals of Spain / the Queen in the morning at 6 o'clock / happily gave birth to a Prince / Who immediately afterwards was baptized, with the names Ludwig Anton Jacob).
