Biography
American athlete, a pro baseball player (a pitcher) and fraternal twin who crashed his plane into a New York high-rise building in October 11, 2006.
Lidle was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in 1990 and in 1993 was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers, still in the minor leagues. In 1996 he was traded to the NY Mets with his major league debut coming on May 8, 1997. Still not finding an athletic home, he was traded again, ultimately landing with the NY Yankees which he joined on July 30, 2006, just a few months before his death.
His twin brother Kevin described him: "He loved to laugh and he was good at making other people laugh." When asked if Cory liked NY, Kevin said "he liked o be on the big stage...he seemed to get more out of himself against tougher teams. ... He was fearless. He's a true competitor."
Lidle was 34 when he died.
