Sy Scholfield quotes from Johnny Lewis: The Story of Australia's King of Boxing by Paul Kent (ReadHowYouWant.com, 2011), p. 70: "Johnny saw Erko and its people through the eyes of his mum and dad. They had been married four years by the time he came along, late in the night of March 18, 1944. Johnny was born in Bankstown Hospital, but his family were living in Wallangarra at the time, on the New South Wales–Queensland border."
A time of 11pm is speculative.
