Biography

French athlete and rugby player, President of "Stade français" rugby club, he met Roland Garros at Paris HEC School in 1908. Twenty years later, after the first victory of the "Musketeers" in Davis Cup (1927), he was charged with building a new stadium and suggested that he could be named Roland-Garros. Since 1928, the French Open has taken place in this stadium (West suburb of Paris), even in 2020 (despite the Covid).
