Mexican-born American set decorator of Lebanese parentage who won two Academy Awards and was nominated for six more in the category Best Art Direction. He won Oscars for his work in the films The Heiress (1949) and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954). He died on 10 October 2000, aged 93, in Los Angeles, California.
