German publisher who headed the Alfred Kröner Verlag publishing house in Stuttgart from its foundation in 1904 until his death in 1922. He published, among others, the works of Friedrich Nietzsche and Jacob Burckhardt.
Alfred Kröner was the son of the publisher Adolf von Kröner. His brother Robert Kröner was also a publisher and took over his father's main publishing house after his death in 1911.
In 1891 Alfred Kröner married a farmer's daughter Julie von Heymann, with whom he had three daughters. Their daughter Erna married Wilhelm Klemm, the publisher and successor to Kröner.
Alfred Kröner died on 2 January 1922 in Berlin at age 60.
