German writer of stories for children and teenagers as well as pieces for amateur theatre. Her books published during the time of National Socialism (Nazism), including "Der Wildling vom Kauzenhof" (1934), "Auf den Spuren der Ahnen" (1935) as well as "Achtung! Luftgefahr!" were listed after 1945 in the Soviet zone or the early GDR as restricted literature.

She was married to the sculptor Berthold Boeß, and was thence known as Julie Boeß-Kniese or Julie Boeß. She died on 15 February 1972 in Weimar, aged 91.
