Prussian jurist, historian, botanist, mathematician and diplomat in service of Polish King August II the Strong. Klein dealt with small matters of zoological nomenclature and set up his own system of classification of animals, which was based on the number, shape, and position of the limbs. His nickname was Plinius Gedanensium. He died on 27 February 1759.
Sy Scholfield quotes "Das Neueste aus der anmuthigen Gelehrsamkeit: Wintermond 1760" by Bernhard Christoph Breitkopf (1760), p. 876: "Er im 1685. Jahre, den 15ten Augustmonaths, früh um drei Uhr das licht der Welt erblickte."
Translation: In 1685, on 15 August, at three o'clock in the morning, he first saw the light of the world.
