German cultural historian from Baden, who devoted himself especially to the history of technology. In addition to teaching activities, Kistner wrote several books and numerous essays on Baden-Württemberg's history of culture and technology. His interest was in particular the history of watchmaking in the Black Forest.
He died on 20 November 1940 in Heidelberg, aged 62.
