Belgian anatomist, teacher and medical writer.
In 1851, he published the Manual of General Anatomy, a landmark work updated regularly, and reissued three times. In 1854 he was the author of a treatise on descriptive anatomy and special histology, which also became a classic for the period.
He died in Paris on 8 October 1893, aged 78.
