Biography
German Nazi, he was a member of the Nazi Party from 1922 and served as Party leader from 1933 to 1945. He is considered the designer of the plan to eliminate Jews from Hamburg. He was tried for war crimes after WWII; his sentence of life imprisonment was abridged. Due to his ill health, he was released in 1950. His continued participation in right-wing activities brought him back to prison in 1953. By 1959 he was made head of an insurance company. He died December 4, 1969 in Hamburg, Germany.
