Biography
American drug fatality at age 21, 3/14/1991, after drug addiction that began when he was in high school. He and a Plymouth man were arrested in September 1990 for the murder of a South Boston man in March 1990 during a fight outside of a bar; they did not even know the man.
Richard was living with his parents in Brockton. On the evening of March 14th his folks went to a wake, leaving him home alone because he was using drugs. When they returned they saw his shoeless footprints in the snow and knew he was on another rampage. Richard went to the home of Beverly and Joseph Milligan who lived a couple hundred yards away and burst in, staggering and in a drug-crazed state saying "They're going to get me." He grabbed a kitchen mop and began swinging at his imaginary enemies and at the Milligan couple. Joe, 56, fought to defend himself and his wife as Richard drew a knife. Beverly called the police; it took four men to subdue Richard. While in a jail cell, he stopped breathing and died some four hours later.
