Walerian Kalinka

Biography

Polish priest, historian and founder of the Polish Province of the Resurrection. He belonged to the Historical Society and the Academy of Sciences. In the years 1861-1886 he was an honorary member of the Poznan Society of Friends Nauk.In 1856 a member of the Editorial Committee Historical and Literary Society in Paris. He was a co-founder of Krakow historical school.

In the years 1891-1902 published an edition of his works ( Works, Vol. 1-12 ), which conducted a colored moralizing analysis of the internal causes of the collapse of Polish and partitions, indicating - according to their beliefs - the path of rebirth. He is the author of many scientific papers, mostly historical.

Kalinka fled from Poland in 1846 on account of political entanglements and his involvement in the Krakow Uprising. Kalinka was the founder of the Polish branch of the Resurrectionist Order.

He died 16 December 1886
