German businessman, a top executive of the Flick Group specializing in financial issues, who joined the Nazi Party in 1937 and became a Wehrwirtschaftsführer (Nazi company executive) in 1941. Arrested in 1945, he was a defendant in the Nuremberg Trials in 1947, declared a Nazi war criminal in the mid-1960s, then honoured with the Grand Cross of Merit (1965) and the Bavarian Order of Merit (1969). He died on 18 September 1978 in Kreuztal, aged 79.
