Biography

Polish communist activist, commander of the Militia, since March 1946 member of the National Security, Major General of the Polish Army.

He spent 12 years in prison. From 1939 to 1941 he was on the territories occupied by the Soviet Union. Since the summer of 1941 he fought in the Soviet partisans. In early 1942, he returned to the country. In May this year he was a member of the Central Committee of the Polish Workers' Party, in August, the head of the General Staff of the People's Guard, and in November a member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the PPR. In the years 1944-1949 he served as the first Chief of the Militia, and since 1945 at the same time the deputy minister of public safety. Then he was the president of the Supreme Chamber of Control, in 1952-1955, minister of state control. At the same time, in the years 1949-1952, he was a member of the State Council. In the years 1955-1957 he was deputy prime minister.

He died 23 October 1966
