Biography

American youth, a teenager who is the continued focus of poltergeist activity. Normally such activity is very short-lived, lasting usually only a few months and virtually never more than one or two years at most. But this young man, as well as his family, suffered extensive and extremely severe manifestations for the last eight years.

Michael’s disturbances began just before his fifth birthday. He has been hit and attacked, with the activity continuing in spite of three exorcisms. Michael has seen many doctors and neurologists who have all cleared him as medically okay, only to find that he has a special gift – one that the Jones family think is a curse as no one should go through what they have and still do.

Denice Jones, a native from Connecticut, wrote about the horror they endured in their everyday life. They still have many problems as Michael continues to see dead people, such as the story pictures in the movie, "The Sixth Sense." Denice is the Founder of the L.I.F.E. Foundation- Living in Fear Ends, a Nonprofit organization that helps people find a paranormal Investigator in their area. Michael’s story is scheduled to be shown on TV shows "True Believers" and "Beyond Belief," airing after April 2001.

The phenomena is still in evidence as shown by the following letter written by his mother, Denice, on 23 April 2001 "We did not get to sleep till 5am as Mike had no school today. We watched a comedy till 2:00 AM. I shut off the TV and we had just laid down. About 40 seconds later he screamed one of those half screams, like he could not get it out. He said he was going to say something to me when he realized he could not talk or move, then he felt his whole body fall asleep almost like when your foot falls asleep. Then he felt a sudden jerk to his body and then he was in a small church. He said he was floating towards the front of the church about two feet off the ground towards a man who was facing the front. He could not see his face and he never turned around, but the man was wearing a black robe and had long silver/white hair. Mike was afraid as he could not stop the floating. He then prayed for help and then he was back and was able to scream. He was so upset and scared. Thank God I was with him. Then he saw a man in his late 20’s sitting at my table drinking a cup of something, he closed his eyes and cried uncontrollably and said he cannot take it anymore. It was sad to see. He refused to close his eyes and would not until 5:00 AM."

Source Notes

Peter Novak gave the data on email (ACT), 4/2001, from "The Other Side: The True Story of the Boy Who Sees Ghosts" (New Horizon Press, 2000). The source of the data is his mother, Denice Jones, who wrote the book. Her website, with her email address, is at http://hometown.aol.com/dajones1315/myhomepage/books.html "I've asked for and received permission from his mother to share this more personal/identifying sort of data with the rest of our group here.

For those who have (or will) read the book, his mother admits that the publishing company required her to compromise the truth in two places in the book:

1. There is a minor but repeated occurrence of a black car that appears and threatens to run over people from time to time. This car is entirely fiction, insisted upon by the editor, and did not really occur. All the rest of the manifestations in the book are either psychic-type events, or PK-type events, which the author assures me did and do still occur to the child, and to a lesser extent to the rest of the family, all the time.

2. The book says that the first disturbances began when the child was nine years old, but the truth of the matter, according to the mother, is that they began when Michael was only 4 years old, just before his 5th birthday. In that first occurrence, he saw his dead grandfather, who had died before Michael's birth. Michael identified him after the vision through a photo someone happened to show to him one day."
