American athlete, a basketball star and coach. Formerly the 6th man for the Knicks and the New York Nets 1967-80, he led the NBA with 330 personal fouls in 1975. He played with the Knicks for 13 seasons.

Jackson became head coach of the Chicago Bulls in 1989. Known as one of the best coaches ever, he set new NBA records in 1996 with 70 wins and was named the NBA Coach of the Year. He led the Bulls to four NBA championships, in 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1996.

A big man at 6' 8" and 230 lbs, he was the son of Pentecostal ministers. He himself became a Zen meditator, embracing "aggressiveness without anger" and "being aware" as more important than "being smart."
