Biography

German-Jewish architect and set decorator who won an Academy Award in the category Best Art Direction for the 1944 film Gaslight.

After imprisonment in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp in 1938 had fled Nazi Germany in 1939 for California. He died on 1 February 1947, aged 57, in Santa Monica.
