German architect whose main sphere of activity occurred in the Berlin area. From 1909 until his death in 1951, Hoffmann was a partner of the brothers Bruno and Max Taut, but his work was always overshadowed by their fame. Many of their jointly planned and realized buildings have been preserved, fourteen have been added to the Berlin State Monument List as architectural monuments. Franz Hoffmann died on 15 July 1951 in Berlin-Westend at age 67.
